One of the questions I get asked most often about WorkBetterNow is how we’re able to get such highly skilled talent on behalf of our clients.
What most people don’t know is that my business partner, Andrew Cohen, used to actually filter resumes and interview the talent himself when we first started WorkBetterNow.
As a much more patient and process-driven individual than me, he learned firsthand which qualities in an individual would produce the greatest success for our clients.
Fast forward to today, Andrew is no longer filtering through resumes. We’ve long since delegated that task to our growing team.
But the job of screening candidates and maintaining a high standard of talent is still paramount. That's why we've carefully developed a reliable and predictable process our team uses called the Top Talent Filter™.
Why Do We Have the Top Talent Filter™?
To provide our clients with an unmatched talent pool, it’s essential that we first attract a high volume of applicants who would like to become WBN Certified Professionals. There are several ways we do this, most of them rooted in our talent-first culture.
Because of this core value of ours, we’ve developed a fantastic employer brand in Latin America as evidenced on our Glassdoor reviews.
As a result, we don’t just get 100 applicants a month, or even 500...
WBN gets 4,000+ applications every single month from candidates across Latin America.
Now, that could be overwhelming for some firms. For us, it represents a fantastic opportunity for our clients. That’s because the more applications we receive, the more superstars we can find for them.
But to go through that many applications – and only accept 1 to 2% of them – our team uses a proprietary three-tier process.
How Does the Top Talent Filter™ Work?
Here is an overview of the Top Talent Filter™ process:
1. The candidate’s resume is reviewed for a number of factors that WBN has determined are key to a successful team member, such as: Experience, Job Stability, Attention to Detail, Grammar & Punctuation, and more. English Proficiency is also tested as this stage.
2. Next, a series of assessments are administered to the candidate. These include Email Skills, Business Ethics, a DISC Personality Assessment, and skills tests related to the candidate’s area of expertise. The software we use can even verify that the candidate is not cheating on these assessments and the level to which they are providing honest and truthful answers.
3. Finally, a one-on-one interview is performed with the candidate to verify their qualifications in person and most importantly – ensure cultural fit.
No candidate is ever matched with our clients without thoroughly passing each of these steps.
What are the Results of the Top Talent Filter™?
By having such a thorough screening process, we’re able to accomplish two things at WorkBetterNow.
First, we’re able to champion our core value of putting our talent first. One may say, “Well, if you were talent-first, you’d go easy on applicants.”
That sentiment, while easy to understand on the surface, couldn’t be more wrong.
You see, by protecting the quality of our talent pool, we’re able to offer even better positions, compensation and benefits to the select candidates who are chosen.
Second, we’re able to offer a premium experience to our WorkBetterNow clients. Small and midsized business owners come to us seeking talent because they know their time will not be wasted.
As Bernadette Capulong with client company BC Design Haus shares:
“Our first hire was fantastic. The quality, the skillset, the work ethic just blew me away. I think that the timing of Work Better Now is prime for today’s business climate, and I think it goes beyond just assistance.”
In fact, BC Design Haus continues to add WBN Certified Professionals™ to their team. They now have six members on staff who went through the Top Talent Filter™.
And Larry Zogby, President of RDS Same Day Delivery shares:
“WorkBetterNow and their team of talent is transforming my business every day. I only wish I knew about WBN and its amazing people 20 years ago.”
Enjoying consistent client successes like these would not be possible without the Top Talent Filter™. Altogether, this premium client experience culminates in WBN's excellent Net Promoter Score of 73.
